9月に入り、国内外のオークションが次々開催される。
雑誌『目の眼』8・9月号、『目の眼』電子増刊5号で紹介している老舗オークション会社のボナムズが、ニューヨークのアジア・ウィークにあわせ、9月17日（水）に日本美術＆朝鮮美術のライブオークションを開催する。
日本美術＆朝鮮美術のライブオークションの注目品は、18世紀後半の李氏朝鮮時代の青花 鶴亀文球形壺だ。この作品は日本の個人コレクションから出品され、落札予想価格は約7,200万〜1億150万円となる予定だ。

この「朝鮮青花 鶴亀文 球形壺」は、朝鮮陶磁が生み出した最高峰の美的結晶とも呼べる作品である。その魅力は、まずもって完璧な球形造形と描かれた画像に集約される。均整の取れた球体は、轆轤による成形の卓越した技術を示すとともに、宇宙の調和や永続性を象徴する天球をも連想させる。またコバルト顔料で描かれた、天を舞う「鶴」と地を這う「亀」が、その吉祥の寓意のみならず、天地の調和を象徴する宇宙観を表現している。

中国産のコバルト顔料による鮮やかな青の発色は官窯である分院窯ならではである。静謐でありながら深遠な輝きを放つこの色彩は、朝鮮民族の内省的で詩的な精神性すら表現している。余白をのこして円圏の中に描かれた鶴と亀の文様は、単なる長寿の願いを超えて、鶴が「高潔な君子」を、亀が「不撓の知恵」を象徴する、儒教的理想の具現化にほかならない。文様をわずか四つの円圏内に収め、周囲に大胆な白地を残した画面構成は、朝鮮美学の真髄である「余白の美」を見事に体?している。余白の無から有がうまれ、文様表現が単なる吉祥性を超えていき、そして静寂さがかえって生命の「気」を躍動させて、哲学的な深みを感じさせるのである。
学術的見地からは、18世紀朝鮮宮廷文化の精華を伝える資料として極めて重要である。宮廷が設置した窯・分院窯の技術的頂点を示すとともに、当時の支配階層である両班（ヤンバン）の美的感覚と儒教的世界観を如実に物語っている。この作品は中国の様式から脱却し、瀟洒で遊び心すら感じられる独自の美を確立した、朝鮮工芸文化の神髄とも解釈できよう。本作品は、機能美と精神性、格式と親しみやすさが見事に融合されているのである。

Spherical Vase with Crane and Tortoise Design This "Korean Blue-and-White Spherical Jar with Crane and Turtle Design" can be regarded as one of the highest aesthetic achievements of Korean ceramic art. Its appeal is encapsulated, first and foremost, in its perfect spherical form and the painted imagery. The harmoniously balanced sphere not only demonstrates exceptional technical skill in wheel-throwing but also evokes the celestial orb, symbolizing cosmic harmony and perpetuity. Furthermore, the crane soaring in the sky and the turtle crawling on the earth, painted in cobalt blue pigment, express a cosmological worldview symbolizing the harmony of heaven and earth, beyond their mere auspicious connotations.
The vibrant blue hue achieved using Chinese cobalt pigment is characteristic of the Bunwon-gung, the official kiln. This color, serene yet profoundly luminous, even expresses the introspective and poetic spirituality of the Korean people. The crane and turtle motifs, depicted within reserved circular panels, transcend simple wishes for longevity; they embody Confucian ideals—the crane symbolizing the "virtuous nobleman" and the turtle representing "unwavering wisdom." The composition, which confines the decoration to just four circular fields and boldly leaves the surrounding area as white space, masterfully exemplifies the essence of Korean aesthetics: the "beauty of blank space" (余白の美). From this void (mu/無), being (yu/有) is born; the decorative expression surpasses mere auspiciousness, and the quietness, conversely, animates the vital energy ("qi" or 氣) of life, evoking a philosophical depth.

From an academic perspective, this piece is exceedingly significant as an artifact conveying the essence of 18th-century Joseon court culture. It represents the technical pinnacle of the Bunwon-gung, the kiln established by the court, and vividly illustrates the aesthetic sensibilities and Confucian worldview of the Yangban, the contemporary ruling class. This work can be interpreted as the quintessence of Korean craft culture, which broke free from Chinese models to establish a unique beauty that is elegant and even possesses a sense of playfulness. It represents a remarkable fusion of functional beauty and spirituality, formality and approachability.
